1987-PRESENT DAY

As 1947-48 season will be remembered as our best, in which we swept all before us, 1989-90 will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. It was the season in which we not only finished bottom of the league but we were just hours away from going out of existence. In that season we played 34 games, scored 26 goals, conceded 151 and only scored 3 points not winning any games in the league that season. Due to financial problems, we had turned amateur and many Saturday's had difficulty in  raising a team. John Bateson was the team manager that year but he was replaced in December by Rab Mulheron, who didn't have the best of starts losing his first game 9-0 against Ross County. Other results of note were against Elgin City who beat us 8-0 at Grant Street then 11-1 at Boroughbriggs.

The season ended with us going into liquidation with debts of over £190,000.  We were just hours of going out of business when a group of business men got together to take over the running of the club. Land, where the grandstand had been, was sold to a housing developer and that, along with money put in, meant we were saved.  The men who saved Clach back then were Charlie Forbes, James Macdonald, Ken Macleod, Calum Grant, Colin Morgan and Alistair and David Dowling, David Dowling is still there as Chairman, with Colin Morgan a director of the club.
